Liberty Handgun Training Classes
Our goal is to keep the cost of our classes affordable so that anyone that desires exceptional tactical firearms training can participate. We also try to keep our class sizes smaller to facilitate more one on one instruction. If you would like to have a private group session (6 or more) please contact us to set a date.
We also offer tactical rifle, tactical shotgun, and carbine classes by request.

CLASS: Basic Handgun Course (Oregon CHL)
COURSE LENGTH: Approx. 4 hours
COST: $100 (Take both Oregon and Utah CHL classes at the same time for $150)
DESCRIPTION: This class will provide you with the information necessary to meet, and exceed, the basic handgun safety requirements of ORS 166.291 for obtaining an Oregon Concealed Handgun License. The focus of this course is on using a handgun for self-defense.
Key Concepts You Will Learn:
Firearm safety
Basic gun handling skills
Introduction to the six fundamentals of marksmanship
Introduction to the three conditions required in order to justify using deadly force
The importance of sound judgment in assessing other alternatives
The responsibilities of the armed private citizen
Oregon law regarding where you can legally carry your handgun concealed
Introduction to the different types of handguns used for self-defense
Overview of handgun ammunition for self-defense
Nomenclature and inspection of handguns
Overview of revolvers and semi-auto pistols for self-defense
Proper handgun care and cleaning
The seriousness of using deadly force and using other alternatives
Firearm storage and security
Basic home defense tactics
Range Portion of Class
How to inspect your handgun
Loading and unloading
How to correctly charge your handgun (semiautomatics)
Introduction to the " low ready" position
Marksmanship fundamentals
After action responses including the search and scan technique
Introduction to verbalization
Individual coaching and attention to improve your marksmanship & gun handling skills

CLASS: Utah Concealed Firearms Course
COURSE LENGTH: Approx. 4 to 4.5 hours
COST: $100
DESCRIPTION: Utah Concealed Firearms Course- 4 to 4.5 hours
Meets the requirement for obtaining an Utah Concealed Firearms Permit Course taught by State of Utah Certified Firearms Instructors. Once the course is completed you will have met the training requirement for applying for an Utah Concealed Firearms Permit. Any U.S. citizen may obtain a Utah concealed firearm permit, providing they meet the minimum qualifications. The qualifications are found at this link.
With this permit you can legally carry in approximately 30 states including Washington State.
Not valid in Oregon. You must attend this course in its entirety regardless of your
previous training.

CLASS: Tactical Handgun 1
COURSE LENGTH: Approx. 6 hours
COST: $150
DESCRIPTION: You must have your CHL to attend this class. Although we consider this our entry level tactical course, the information and training you will receive would be considered advanced by many firearms instructors and organizations. Beginners won't feel left behind and experienced shooters will be surprised how much they learn. This class introduces the student to what it might be like to use a firearm to defend their lives. This is the essence in all of our training at L.H.T
Key Concepts You Will Learn:
• How to safely handle and operate a handgun.
• The difference between sited shooting (marksmanship) & point shooting (instinctual shooting).
• Why we focus heavily on point shooting.
• The bodies physiological response to hormone induced stress & techniques to cope with it.
• Tactical Breathing (also called combat or belly breathing).
• Visualization Skills Training.
• When the use of deadly force is justified.
• Methods of concealed carry.
• The low ready position.
• Verbalization
What to bring for class:
• Eye and ear protection.
• Baseball style hat.
• One old T-shirt you don’t mind being ruined (besides what you wear).
• Appropriate clothing for the weather.

• 200 rounds of ammunition for your caliber handgun.

CLASS: Tactical Handgun 2
COURSE LENGTH: Approx. 6-7 hours
COST: $150
DESCRIPTION: This is an intermediate level class. Participants must have completed Tactical Handgun Training 1. The majority of the day will be spent on the range, with some time in the classroom setting. You will continue to utilize and hone the skill of point shooting. This class focuses more on the elements of defending your life with a handgun, what to expect, how to train and be prepared. You will learn how to safely draw your handgun from a concealed carry and engage any present threat(s). You will also be introduced to tactical & combat reloads, immediate action response to weapon malfunctions, shooting and moving, one handed shooting, and more.
Key Concepts You Will Learn:
• Safely establishing a grip on your concealed handgun, drawing and firing.
• How to engage multiple threats.
• Combat and tactical reloads.
• Cover vs. Concealment and learning how to seek it, move to it, and engage threats from behind it.
• How to use strong verbalization to command the threat.
• Follow through.
• The high ready or tactical ready position.
• How to safely move with a handgun in a ready position.
• The concept of the safety circle (360 degree world).
What to bring for class:
• Eye and ear protection.
• Baseball style hat.
• Appropriate clothing for the weather.
• Something to drink & lunch/snack.
• 400 rounds of ammunition for your caliber handgun.
• Functioning & reliable handgun that you have fired before.
• Holster or method of concealed carry is REQUIRED for this class!.
• 3 magazines or speedloaders with secure pouches.
•Knee pads optional (various shooting positions on hard surfaces).
• The classroom facility is heated and comfortable.

CLASS: Tactical Handgun 3
COURSE LENGTH: Approx. 6-7 hours
COST: $150
DESCRIPTION: This is an advanced level class. Participants must have completed Tactical Handgun Training 1 and 2. You will learn more about our 360 degree world from a tactical perspective. You will continue to rely upon and improve your point shooting skills while dealing with real world scenarios, to include: problem solving before, during, and after a gunfight, threat identification, multiple threats, and shoot or don't shoot decision making. You will be challenged with a final training exercise designed to utilize the skills you have learned.
Key Concepts You Will Learn:
• Shooting while moving.
• Team Tactics.
• Communicating with a partner during high risk encounters.
• Utilizing your partner for cover while reloading.
• Expanded work in the shooting positions while engaging threats from cover/concealment.
• Continued training on urban tactics, negotiating hallways & doorways, and slicing the pie.
• Car jacking defense.
• Home invasion defense.
• Active shooter(s) in public places and how to respond.
What to bring for class:
• Eye and ear protection.
• Baseball style hat.
• Appropriate clothing for the weather.
• Something to drink & lunch/snack.
• 400 rounds of ammunition for your caliber handgun.
• Functioning & reliable handgun that you have fired before.
• Holster or method of concealed carry is REQUIRED for this class!.

CLASS: Marksmanship
COURSE LENGTH: Approx. 7-8 hours
COST: $150
DESCRIPTION: This class will teach you the fundamentals of marksmanship and accurate shooting. This is a different skill and mind set than that of point shooting, which is used extensively in our tactical handgun classes. Marksmanship is used for recreational target shooting or, in a tactical sense, is ideally used when the shooter has time, distance from the threat, and cover on their side. This class will help you recognize your bad habits and turn them into good technique. Some consideration will be given to the tactical application of marksmanship in a life or death encounter.
Key Concepts You Will Learn:
• How to safely handle and operate a handgun.
• The difference between sited shooting (marksmanship) & point shooting (instinctual shooting).
• Proper stance, grip, sight alignment, trigger control, breathing, and follow-through technique.
• Understand site picture (front site focus).
• Extensive work with trigger control (the most important fundamental for accurate shooting).
• Some key elements on using your handgun for personal defense will also be covered.
What to bring for class:
• Eye and ear protection.
• Baseball style hat.
• Appropriate clothing for the weather.
• Something to drink & lunch/snack.
• 400 rounds of ammunition for your caliber handgun.
• Functioning & reliable handgun that you have fired before.
• Holster or secure method of carry is REQUIRED for this class!.
• 3 magazines or speedloaders with secure pouches.
•Knee pads optional (various shooting positions on hard surfaces).
• The classroom facility is heated and comfortable.
